The silencer has a small opening along the folded edge where the loop of the tag can fit securely through. The plastic is clear and durable and does not hide the graphic in the center of our tags.

This item / description is not accurate. The website description clearly states that this is MEDIUM. However, what was shipped / received was clearly marked LARGE. Also, the Silver Paw description states that the item will fit 1-1/8" tags, but the item sent is larger than 1-1/8" (I measure it at 1-5/16") so it is too big for 1-1/8" tags. I already had access locally to the large silencers (which, again, are too large for my need), that is why I ordered the MEDIUM. So, Silver Paw did NOT ship what was advertised and, as such, I ended up paying for an item I did not want or actually order.

These do really silence the tags, which is very nice, fit fine, not sure how long they will last. They do not glow in the dark as it states on the package, but I still like them

Tag silencer. I love this product! It makes my Wheaten's tag protected and looks good, too! I had ordered the tag silencer for the medium tag, when I ordered the medium tag, but the product I received indicates it's for the "large circle I.D. tag". Regardless, it works very well. I may order a couple more for the rabies and city licence tag, as well.

Effective Silencer. The silencer perfectly fits my dog's medium size id tag. It was easy to hook on, does not detract too much from the gorgeous id tag, and in a nutshell, it does the job. No loud clanking which would drive my dog crazy as much as it would for me I'm sure. I haven't seen it "glow in the dark", which I was really hoping for on our night walks. However my dog chooses to be inside for a majority of the day, so my guess is that it doesn't soak up enough sun. We'll see what happens in the summertime when we are outside more often. I'm happy with my purchase.

The medium pet tag silencer is a custom fit for our medium stainless steel dog id tag. The silencer fits easily over the edge of a tag. The silencer has a small opening along the folded edge where the loop of the tag can fit securely through. The plastic is clear and durable and does not hide the graphic in the center of our tags. These silencers also have an added benefit of glowing in the dark which makes them quite handy at night while you are out walking your dog.

The medium pet tag silencer also helps protect the tag against abrasion. This occurs when multiple tags rub together around your dog's neck. It is this abrasion which wears most of the tags on the market today down to nothing. Your tag is robbed of its most important aspect which is the tag's engraving. Our tags are engraved very deeply and the stainless steel we use is among the hardest of stainless alloys. Abrasive wear is not a threat to our tags but it is nice to have the added protection of a silencer.

If the noise of a tag clinging against a food dish or against other tags drives you crazy, than you will most definitely appreciate having one of these silencers. The silencer can be removed and cleaned and easily put back on again. Silencers are so inexpensive that you might want to have several on hand should they become worn or thin.

We do not make these medium pet tag silencers. Hillman, a company in Ohio and Arizona, came up with the idea. These silencers are rather generic in that they will fit various 1 1/8" tags on the market. The Hillman company also makes another size silencer which fits our small stainless steel tags. We sell them here on our site. They don't however and unfortunately, make a large version which will fit our largest 1 1/2" tags which we very much regret!
